5, 6, 7, 8: A Steps Musical completes smash hit debut run with huge buzz

Steps musical 5, 6, 7, 8 has completed its six-night debut at Upstairs At The Gatehouse as part of the Camden Fringe – and how.

The 70-minute comedy, which weaved in a string of the quintet’s biggest hits as it told the story of four lovesick work colleagues, sold out five of its six performances and generated enormous social media buzz.

Demand for seats was so high in the second half of the week that the theatre was forced to implement a dedicated waiting list.

West Avenue has today announced the cast of upcoming Steps musical 5, 6, 7, 8.

The brand new production – which will play at north London’s Upstairs At The Gatehouse for six nights only this August – unites a wealth of new talent.

Playing principle roles are AMBER MULDOON, ROBERTA MORRIS, MIMI EDWARDS and CHRISTOPHER COHEN.

Supporting and featured roles are filled by CALUM ROY, GEORGE LESTER, NATALIE LESTER, SOPHIE MACKENZIE, SHALANA SERAFINA and ROB ELLIS.

Shaun Kitchener has written the show and will also direct, with choreography from Stephen Davies and music supervision from Sophie Colchester.

Kitchener said: “About half of this cast I’ve worked with before, the other half not. This show is a really fun comedy that  doesn’t take itself too seriously – it needs performers with strong comedic instincts, and great voices. This lot tick both boxes.”

It has also been revealed that 5, 6, 7, 8 is the fastest-seller of the Camden Fringe Festival 2017 thus far, out of a roster of 270+ shows. Tickets are on sale now HERE.

Festival bosses confirmed via Twitter: “Best selling show of the Camden Fringe so far is @WestAvenueTC’s 5, 6, 7, 8 – A Steps Musical! Not a TRAGEDY!”This latest news for 5, 6, 7, 8 comes two weeks after West Avenue’s latest original play All That achieved universal acclaim upon its debut.

Writer and director Shaun Kitchener (Hollyoaks – Channel 4, Positive – Park Theatre, BAFTA Rocliffe prize-winner) said: “I can’t even BEGIN to tell you how much fun this show is going to be. It’s been forming in my head for over a year, and when Steps got back together for their 20th anniversary, I figured now’s the perfect time.

“5, 6, 7, 8 is an original story with Steps music threaded in. It’s about a group of work mates who are all in some kind of love-life-related rut – and what do you know, that ensemble-based story gives us loads of opportunities to thread in the bangers.

“It’s a comedy, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Come along, grab a drink and have the most ludicrous night of your entire year. I have invited the band to come and watch – I like to think they’d enjoy it!”

All profits garnered by the production company will be donated to Mencap, a charity that works with people with learning disabilities.

5, 6, 7, 8 is currently being cast, and tickets are on sale now here.

Start times alternate between 7:30 and 9:15pm (full schedule below). Full price tickets are £12, with concessions at £10.
